Scrubbing
the Federal Do Not Call List
Who does
this effect?
The Federal Trade Commission
(FTC), the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC), and the states will begin enforcing
the National Do Not Call Registry on October
1, 2003. All non-profit telemarketing agencies
will be required to abide by these new laws
starting October 1, 2003. Before dialing,
all of these agencies will be required to
"scrub" their existing lists against
the National Do Not Call List. This means
that any number provided by the FTC in the
do not call list must be removed from your
own list before calling. Any occurrence
where a company does not abide by this law,
may result in a fine up to $11,000.
What can
TelSearch do for us?
TelSearch is an official
member of the National Do Not Call Registry
and has the right to purchase Do Not Call
Lists and use them to scrub the lists we
sell. In addition, TelSearch offers a scrubbing
service to any organization that wishes
to scrub their list against the National
Do Not Call list. Whether you have purchased
a list from us or you have purchased a list
from a third-party source, TelSearch can
scrub your list before you dial.
How much
does the scrubbing cost?
The total cost per area
code, including purchasing the Do Not Call
List and scrubbing the list against your
own, is $50. Thus, if you have 6 area codes
that your frequently call, the total cost
will be $300.
How often
do I need to get my lists scrubbed?
The FTC will release an
updated Do Not Call List for each area code
every 3 months. This means that every telemarketing
agency is responsbile for scrubbing their
lists once every 3 months.
How do
I begin?
Call us at (732) 566-7100
and let us know that you wish you to scrub
your lists against the Federal Do Not Call
List. If you wish to purchase a list from
us, we will scrub the list for you before
sending it to you. If you have an existing
list from a third party source, we will
ask you to send us your list, and then we
will scrub it and send it back to you.
